LG OLED65C8PUA User Manual 4K HDR Smart OLED TV

LG OLED65C8PUA User Manual – OLED65C8PUA (C8) is the “best third ” LG OLED offer, behind its flagship W8 SIGNATURE series OLED and E8 series. All that is said, the C8 may be the place where the rubber meets the way for LG, since on paper it seems to fall somewhere between the A8F and Sony MASTER series in terms of specifications, but it costs less than both to $2,799.99 for its 65 model of Inches at the time of writing. $2,799.99 is a price that one might expect to attach to a high-end LED backlit LCD screen or even a Quantum Dot-based design, but not an OLED, and yet here we are.

The C8 comes in three sizes: 55, 65 and 77 inches diagonally, with the 65 inches revised here. The 55-inch model is sold for $1,999.99, while the 77-inch model exceeds $6,999.99 at the time of writing this article. The 65-inch C8 is by far the best-looking screen I’ve reviewed in 2018 from a simple design standpoint. Of course, Sony’s MASTER series is incredibly beautiful, but only if you use its foot-type stand, and only after a good amount of assembly and hassle. The C8, on the other hand, is superb and is ready to be exhibited at the MoMA immediately.

The OLED65C8PUA measures 57 inches wide by 33 inches tall and a hair less than two inches deep at its thickest point. Tilt the scales to approximately 46 lbs without their included support, and 56 pounds with them. Like most autonomous OLED screens, the C8 is thicker near the bottom than at the top. About two-thirds of the screen appears as if it were a single pane of glass with a thin strip of black playing the bevel paper.

Around the back and contained within a edge-to-edge hump, which is curved at the height of the Guggenheim walls, rests the internal loudspeakers and I/O ports of the C8. As for inputs and outputs, the C8 has four HDMI inputs (HDCP 2.2) with the second ARC-compatible HDMI input. There are three 2.0 USB inputs, one RF antenna/cable input, composite video input, Ethernet port, optical audio output and a mini RS-232c connector.

TLG OLED65C8PUA User Manual – he C8 panel features a native resolution of 3,840 x 2,160 pixels, also known as 4k/Ultra HD. It is compatible with four different flavors of HDR: Dolby Vision, Technicolor Advanced hdr, HLG and HDR10. The brains behind the screen come in the form of the LG α9 intelligent processor, along with the WebOS operating system. WebOS is one of the key differentiators between the LG OLED and Sony, which depend on AndroidTV. This is a good thing, since the C8 interface is more agile in every way, while allowing the integration of Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa. Obviously, the Amazon Alexa devices are sold separately, but the Google Wizard is integrated and the TV will also work with independent devices from Google Home. Other wireless connection options include Bluetooth (4.2) and WiFi (802.11 ac). Integrated ATSC and Clear QAM tuners are also available. For more information on the other functions of the C8, visit the product page on the LG website.

LG OLED65C8PUA User Manual – OLED series. While the Sony was a bit of a beast to hang alone, the LG was not. It is true that hanging an OLED of any persuasion is a work more suitable for two, although I myself could hang the C8. The C8 ‘s attractive curves along its back make handling it a little more a chore compared to other TVs, but it is a small price to pay for such a well thought out design. Because the C8, like most OLEDs, it is thicker near the base of the screen, it places the mounting points lower than what you will find with the LED/LCD screens, which means that an OLED can be higher on your wall compared to a LED/ LCD screen using the same support.

Once on my wall, I connected the C8 to my AV receiver Marantz NR1509 via a single HDMI cable using its HDMI 2 input, which features ARC. I allowed HDMI CEC in both the Marantz and LG so that my complete configuration, which also included a Roku Ultra, was controlled without problems by the remote control I had, which generally belonged to Roku.

LG OLED65C8PUA User Manual – Speaking of remotes: apparently there is a tendency among screen manufacturers to use a single remote control on all their products, and LG is no different. The remote control that comes with the C8 is the same as you get with all LG OLED and Super UHD displays as well as some standard UHD offerings. It is based on gestures, which means navigating through many of the menus that the remote control uses in the same way you would with a laser pointer during an office presentation.
